Dr. Suhail Alam

At the age of 19, Dr. Alam received his bachelor’s degree with honors and was awarded an early acceptance into medical school. After receiving his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati, Dr. Alam completed additional advanced training through a residency in ophthalmology at the University of Cincinnati, where he was chosen to serve as Chief Resident, followed by a fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at the University of California – Davis. Dr. Alam went on to take top marks on his board exams, scoring in the 99th percentile. He has been involved in both scientific and clinical research.
Dr. Alam specializes in the medical and surgical care of the retina and vitreous. He joined Barnet Dulaney Perkins Eye Center in 2006 and has performed over 5,000 major retinal surgeries. His interests include the latest treatments for vitreoretinal diseases and conditions, including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and retinal detachments.
Dr. Alam is a member of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Ophthalmology and Phoenix Ophthalmological Society. When he is not taking care of patients, he spends time with his wife and 3 children and pursues his other interests including photography, calligraphy, the study of ancient history and playing with the latest gadgets.
