Originally from Logan, UT, Dr. Mortenson graduated Magna Cum Laude from Utah State University and received his MD from the University of Utah, where he completed his residency.
He served in the United States Air Force as an ophthalmologist from 1991-1994 after which he began his practice in Prescott.
Dr. Mortenson is a diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a former President of the Arizona Ophthalmological Association. He also volunteers his time with the Arizona Mobile Eye Unit, providing eye care to underserved areas in Arizona, and serves on the Mel Clack Advisory Committee, which provides eye care to the underprivileged in Yavapai County.
He is married to Wendy and they have five children. Dr. Mortenson practices comprehensive ophthalmology, which involves treatment for most eye conditions, including but not limited to cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration and other retinal diseases. He also treats dry eyes, allergies, eye injuries, eyelid abnormalities, blepharospasm (hemifacial spasm) and double vision.
He has performed over 10,000 surgeries, including cataract, laser procedures, eyelid surgeries and administering Botox.
