What is LASIK Eye Surgery?
LASIK (Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis) is a refractive surgery that corrects vision by reshaping the cornea, the clear front surface of the eye. When the cornea is shaped correctly, light focuses properly on the retina, resulting in clearer vision.
LASIK is commonly used to treat:
- Nearsightedness (myopia) – difficulty seeing objects at a distance
- Farsightedness (hyperopia) – difficulty seeing objects up close
- Astigmatism – blurred or distorted vision caused by an irregular corneal shape
